Heat Advisory
๐ดโ๏ธ HEAT ADVISORY
July 1–5
๐ฅ Record-breaking temperatures are expected from Wednesday through Sunday. If you're planning to ride, use extra caution and, whenever possible, start early in the morning to avoid the hottest temperatures and highest heat index values.
๐ด Before You Ride
๐ง Hydrate well before heading out.
๐งด Apply sunscreen.
๐ Wear light-colored, breathable clothing.
๐ Eat something before longer rides—don't rely on fluids alone.
๐ฐ During Your Ride
๐ง Carry more water than usual.
โก Bring electrolyte drinks or supplements for longer rides.
๐ณ Take breaks in the shade whenever possible.
๐ข Reduce your pace and intensity—your body works harder in the heat.
โ ๏ธ Know the Warning Signs
Stop riding immediately if you experience:
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Nausea or vomiting
• Muscle cramps
• Unusual fatigue or weakness
• Confusion or disorientation
• Chills or goosebumps despite the heat
โก๏ธ Move to a cool place, begin cooling down, and hydrate if you're able. If symptoms are severe, worsen, or don't improve quickly, call 911 or seek emergency medical care.
โค๏ธ Your Ride. Your Decision.
There is no shame in turning around, shortening your ride, or choosing to ride indoors when conditions become unsafe. Every rider responds to heat differently. Listen to your body, ride within your limits, and make safety your priority.
Stay safe. Stay hydrated. Look out for your fellow riders.
