See the Fall Foliage in New England at peak colors and put the “T” (for touring) back in BTCNJ.

This is a self-supported pannier tour. We carry all our gear and do not have a sag. Lodging will be at a hostel (2 nights) and a hotel (2 nights).
The route traverses very gently graded rail trails eastbound across New Hampshire on a route known as the Cross–New Hampshire Adventure Trail, or XNHAT. We see some covered bridges spanning the Androscoggin River. We then ride pavement into Bethel, Maine, where we have a layover day. People can bike a beautiful paved road route that day, which again takes in a covered bridge and includes a great lunch stop, or take a canoe
trip with an outfitter, or just hang in town. We then return westbound on the XNHAT. See https://www.xnhat.org/ The surface is suitable for 38+ tires. 40 is ideal. There are short chunky portions, but most of it is comfortable on wider lower pressure tires. Here are the routes:

The daily rides are 32, 52, 54 (optional ride day), 52 and 32 miles. The grades are generally gentle rail trail, with a few larger hills on the road portion of the route. Overall, the elevation is less than 10,000 feet climbing (under 45 feet per mile). By New England standards, this is very flat.
Cost is $550 to include 4 nights lodging, 4 dinners, 2 breakfasts. Minimum Trip enrollment is 4 riders, maximum is 8.
