COVID-19 Guidelines, Revised 1/5/2023
- BTCNJ rides will continue to be limited to BTCNJ members. You must sign up on the website before the ride.
- BTCNJ will continue to follow New Jersey COVID-19 guidelines. At this time, New Jersey has no mandatory mask-wearing or vaccination requirements, or travel restrictions. However, New Jersey maintains recommendations to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and the Club encourages its members to follow these recommendations and to take precautions both to protect themselves and to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 to other Club members. Current NJ COVID-19 policy can be found here: https://covid19.nj.gov/
- The NJ Department of Health recommends wearing a face mask when indoors in public spaces whenever you have symptoms of COVID-19, tested positive, were recently exposed to someone with COVID-19, or live in a county with elevated or "high" COVID-19 community levels. https://covid19.nj.gov/faqs/nj-information/slowing-the-spread/should-i-wear-a-mask-to-stop-the-spread-of-covid-19. Currently, all of New Jersey has “high” COVID-19 community levels. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/covid-by-county.html.
- If you were exposed or possibly exposed to someone with confirmed or possible COVID-19, please do not come to a ride or other BTCNJ activity, unless you can wear a well-fitting KN95 or N95 mask during the time you are around others (indoors and when in close outdoor proximity).
- If you are ill, with a fever, or other signs/symptoms of illness, please do not come to a ride or other BTCNJ activity.
- Consistent with NJ and CDC guidelines, if you have confirmed COVID-19, please do not come to a ride or other BTCNJ activity until you have isolated (stayed home) for at least 5 days; for the next 5 days, the CDC/NJ recommends that you wear a well-fitting KN95 or N95 mask during the time you are around others. It would be preferable for you not to participate until you have tested negative by a home antigen test, even if it is longer than this 10-day period, as you are still likely contagious to others.
Please see the CDC guidelines here for further information on isolation and exposure; NJ follows these same guidelines:
- When to isolate, if you have COVID-19:
- What to do when exposed to COVID-19:
As always, ride leaders have the right to ask any rider to leave the ride if they are not complying with the club’s rules or guidelines.
By participating in any group ride, you acknowledge that:
- Bicycle riding is inherently dangerous and that riding in a group can increase your chances of contracting COVID-19.
- You will take reasonable precautions to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 and that you will conduct yourself in accordance with BTCNJ guidelines as well as the recommendations of public health officials.
- You have read and understand all of the above and will abide by all of the terms and conditions of the ride waiver and the supplemental guidelines for group riding.
- You have read and understand all of the following and will abide by all of the terms and conditions of the ride waiver and the supplemental guidelines for group riding.
BTCNJ Ride Waiver: In consideration of permission to participate in BTCNJ rides wherever they are located, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives and assigns, do hereby release, discharge and agree not to sue BTCNJ, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, ride leaders, tour leaders and agents (“released party(ies)”) from and for any and all claims arising from the ordinary negligence of a released party. This waiver and release applies to (1) personal injuries, sickness, and death, as well as (2) loss of, damage to, or theft of personal property. This waiver and release shall be interpreted and controlled by New Jersey law and any lawsuit concerning this waiver and release, personal injuries or property damage shall be brought only in New Jersey.
