Join us (Jane Porges, Avrin Slatkin and Jerry Szubin) for a weekend combining music, biking and tent camping in beautiful Vermont!
The Marlboro Music Festival, founded in 1951, has transformed the world of chamber music and played a vital role in developing generations of new musical leaders. We plan to attend three Marlboro concerts, on Friday & Saturday evening, and Sunday afternoon.
Overnight accommodations will be tent camping on Friday and Saturday nights, at Molly Stark State Park (Wilmington VT). Transportation from the campground to the Festival will be by car on Friday and Saturday for the 8PM concerts, and we will cycle to and from Marlboro on Sunday for the 2:30 PM concert (10-12 miles each way).
Group rides will be offered as follows: Friday afternoon, enroute to Vt. or a hike in/around Molly Stark. On Saturday, day ride options will include at least one 30–50-mile ride on paved or high-quality hard pack dirt roads Vermont is famous for, and maybe we will find a swimming hole if it’s hot, so pack your bathing suit. On Sunday we will ride ~12 miles to Marlboro for the 2:30 concert and then back to camp.
For some meals we will take advantage of outdoor dining at camp: Friday evening pre-concert dinner will be takeout at the campsite, Saturday and Sunday will be organized campsite breakfasts, and Saturday dinner will be at a restaurant before the 8PM concert.
$100 tour fee includes camping for two nights, takeout dinner Friday, breakfasts and some snacks. Restaurant dinner Saturday evening will be at your own cost. Any funds left over will be refunded after the tour.
Marlboro festival tickets are not included in tour fee. The tickets go on sale March 1, 2024, and the cost is $20-40 per ticket. We will offer the option to purchase Marlboro tickets as a group, or participants can purchase on their own. Once purchased, you own the ticket, we cannot offer refunds.
Tour fee: $100. Cancellation before July 19, refund $70. Cancel after July 19, refund $50.
Limit 10 riders, thereafter a waiting list.
