If you are not used to self-contained tours but wish to try one, this is your tour. If you have pedaled self contained, this is the tour to bring a friend along to introduce them to this type of touring. With over 25 years of self contained touring experience, Rick will help and assist you! This type of tour, according to personal needs, can be completed with as little as about 20-25 pounds of gear. Most of the tour is on the Empire State Trail: a dedicated paved bicycle trail system which uses mostly rail-trails. Our cycling will have portions off these rail-trails but they are on bike friendly roads. The days are purposely a little shorter than other tours because with carrying your gear makes for the same type of day as if you are cycling longer distances on an unencumbered road bike. The leader will be carrying tools and spare parts, and some of our lodging will be stocked with supplies pre-tour.

This tour includes:  indoor lodging, nightly social hours (including adult beverages), cue sheets, maps, GPS tracks, and some snack supplies. Arrangements can be made to get bikes to the start and back for BTCNJ members. Participants can pedal with the leader or other participants.  All tour participants must have and carry a cell phone.  There is an option for a 4 day extension.

The basic cost for the 8 days is $1,295 (but BTCNJ members may opt out of overnighting in NYC and join as we go north; thus saving the NYC lodging costs).  All unused monies will be refunded to participants.
