YEAR IN REVIEW
Photos due NOVEMBER 1!

First and foremost, thank you for your submissions; they are very much appreciated. Your photographs are essential to creating a successful, fun, and motivating YIR video. However, the number of pics submitted to any one category can be overwhelming. It would be extremely helpful to self-edit before uploading them into Cluster. If you have duplicate or closely-matching shots, please only submit the best one. Please be conscious of the number of shots you submit of yourself, of you and your significant other, of the group you typically ride with, and the shots of your bikes in various settings. Again, pick only a few that you think are the best. Also, please refrain from adding technically unusable shots, i.e., out of focus or too dark. Your photos will get color-corrected and cropped if deemed necessary. Videos can also be added to the appropriate subjects.

Please read all the category options before selecting where to place your pics. There are some additional titles to help with the editing process. Clicking on the orange button below will give you access to all the categories.

OCTOBER SAFETY TIP
This Month's Topic Is...

...safety and etiquette on shared use paths.

Some reminders for using a paved or hard pack path shared by walkers, runners and cyclists:

-- Plan to ride slower than you would on the road.
-- Keep right. These paths are narrow.
-- Yield to oncoming traffic before passing. Pass with lots of space between you and the person you are passing. Pedestrians or slower cyclists should never have to go off the path.
-- Don’t “thread the needle” by riding passing someone on the right while someone is coming the opposite direction. You don’t like it when a car passes close to you on the road; pedestrians and other cyclists don’t like it when you ride close to them.
-- Pass single file. If you are riding side-by-side, single up when passing.  -- Similarly, go single file when someone is approaching from the other direction.
-- Give a warning before passing. Ring your bell or say “Bike Passing” or “On Your Left.”
-- Be ready for hazards. Pedestrians may take up the entire width of the path. Dogs may lunge at you, even those on leashes. Beware of fallen branches and leaves, especially after a rain storm. Root heaves can affect handling
-- The edge of the pavement is often a crash hazard.
